Year of the Tiger — What does it mean for Business?

Chinese New Year 4708 (or 2010 in the Western calendar), is the Year of the Tiger.

The Tiger represents the third year in the 12 year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The Year of the Tiger started on February 12, 2010 and will end on February 2, 2011. Next time we will celebrate the Year of the Tiger will be in 2022.

Not so good news: The Year of the Tiger is traditionally associated with massive changes and social upheaval.

Therefore 2010 will likely be a very volatile year on both the world scene, as well as on the business and personal levels. Tigers (those who were born in 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, and 1986) are best suited to navigate through 2010 since they thrive on chance and unpredictability.

For those who were not born a Tiger, a good strategy is to step up to challenges and embrace the changes in 2010 by taking bolder actions to pursue one’s business and personal goals. Keep a steady hand on the helm and do not allow uncertainties and challenges to shake you. Whatever the challenges, face them directly and rise above them.

If we can ride out the current global economic crisis, tiger or non-tiger, we will achieve great success and fortune in 2011 and beyond.

The following are some famous people born in The Year of the Tiger: Sheryl Crow, Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jay Leno, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Hugh Hefner. These people achieved their dreams, and we should be inspired to pursue our dreams in 2010.
